Upon consultation, the Wound and Ostomy Specialist assesses, plans implements and evaluates wound and ostomy care on inpatients throughout the hospital. Provides direct patient care and education to selected patients. Serves as a resource and educator to the staff nurse and physician. Is an integral member of the treatment team and is responsible for the case management of specific patients an in working autonomously and in collaboration with the physicians. The Wound Care Specialist will serve as a resource and educator to physicians and patients when requested by the MD and as staffing permits in the outpatient clinic areas.
Required Education/License/Certification: ASN/ADN or BSN, BLS, National Wound Care certification within one year of hire
Required Experience:
2-5 years - Med-surg, Intensive Care experience.
